We received a letter this week from the Alpha Psi Literary Committee that Raquel once again placed in their writing contest!! This year she knew to correct her mistake from last year with adding the necessary cover . . . . and she received 1st place. Here is her story . .. .. . .

2009 School pictures!

Here's the troops! From 18 years old down to 4 years old! Hard to believe the photographer got them all looking in the same direction at the same time!!

We had a great Easter with a meal at my mom's on the Saturday before Easter. Grandma and Grandpa planned an Easter Egg hunt outside for the kids which was a huge hit. DJ had to work, but was still able to get to Grandma and Grandpa's early to find her Easter Basket!! Easter Sunday morning the kids were up way too early . . . . looking for baskets!! Within the first hour everyone found their basket except Raquel!! She was not impressed!! After stratagizing with her dad and drawing a map of the house . . . . . she realized there was a room she hadn't looked in . .. her bedroom!! Although she was sure the Easter Bunny did not make it into her room with her in there. .. . . .. . .she ended up finding her basket right under her nose in her own bedroom!! Don't worry Jackie . . . . the Easter Bunny was a repeat offender at our house as well, with hiding DJ's basket in the same place as last year!!

This week I'm taking some time off . . . . on Friday is my 9th anniversary at work . . . and I had some time to burn!! Mateo and I are having fun today - with the other kids finally going back to school this morning!!

Can't wait for summer!!

Wow - looking back at our pictures . .. . these stuck out, I'm soo ready for the weather to turn warm!! Time is flying by and I can hardly keep up!! The last few weeks have kept us busy . . . . . . both Mateo and DJ had birthdays. DJ is now 18 years old . . . . she treated herself to a day of shopping . . ... . and spent the evening with us watching Beverly Hills Chihuahua This next week will be another busy week with the Spring election on Tuesday, as anyone who knows me . . .. knows this is a gut wrenching time for me. Jimmy's still fairly busy at work, although it has slowed down to mostly just a straight 40 hours per week. Jimmy has his plane ticket bought to travel South for Mother's Day to visit his parents. It will be a short 5 day stay, but I'm sure it will be worth it!! His family is meeting in Mexico City at his sister's house to celebrate Mother's Day! Today Jimmy and I have been married 12 years . . . . . another thing for me to question where all the time has went!! We were playing catch up . . . . hope you enjoy the pictures!

Raquel was not interested in sparring, but did compete in her form An-yo. She also did good . . . . but there were others that did really good!!

Here is an action shot of Gavino . . . he is the one with his foot in the air. He fought three rounds and ended up with the second place trophy!! There were about 9 kids competing!

How many times does it have to snow on the Robin??

This was from a few weeks ago when the temps hit 50 degrees!! We felt like it was the next best thing to summer~~ As you can see . . . . the kids took my advice and did not get their boots and shoes wet . . . . . . . .

Water Ballet

Well, it has been a while since we have updated our post, and I'm hearing about it! We have been very busy with the kids activities. Two weeks ago Raquel performed in the High School play, Wizard of Oz, and this weekend, she is performing three shows of water ballet. After this it should slow down a bit . . . . although, Friday's backpacks had information in them for T-Ball!!

February and March are always my busies times of the year at work . . . . and I'm feeling it! I can hardley wait for one week from now when our City audit will be complete! The City also has a big election coming up . . . which always presents the possibility of change!

Mateo was so happy today - he finally "found the grass"!! He has been questioning what happened to it ... . and even said he will be so happy when it comes back! He is anxiously awaiting his 4th birthday next week!! Hard to believe how fast the last 4 years have went!!

Vanessa has been fighting off a bad flu bug . .. and hopefully she finally is rid of it. She missed two days of school last week, and probably should have stayed home more. She would usually do ok during the day, but in the evening her fever would spike, and she couldn't get off the couch.

We are getting ready to go pick Gavino up - he spent the day with his dad and Grandpa in a crow hunting contest. We can hardly wait for the stories . . . they have a stratagy that they use - they tie a string to the foot of a live crow . .. . . to lure other crows to them . .. . . . . for the hunt . .. . although they try this year after year, it never seems to be sucessful!! They hunted from day break until 3:00 p.m. and had one crow!! (must be the one they tied the string to . . .)

DJ is counting down the days until graduation. She is all set to begin basic training on July 1st in South Carolina. Once she is finished with her 9 week class there, she will immediately go to Sam Houstan Texas for her medical training. She is on her third weekend with the National Guards, and is enjoying it! Last month she had to lug around a "really big gun" on her back . .. . needless to say - that was quite a challenge for her 100 lb body!!

I'm not sure how good the video will look . . . . but hopefully you can enjoy the show!!
